Mathematics

B.A.
B.S.
Minor

Overview:

KU's Department of Mathematics offers a B.A. and a B.S. degree in Math, as well as a minor. You'll find the B.S. degree particularly helpful if you plan to pursue a position that uses math heavily, such as an actuary.

As a Mathematics major, you can also participate in the UKanTeach program, which will guide you through additional coursework needed to be prepared for teacher certification examinations after graduation.

The Kansas Algebra Program is housed within the Mathematics department and can provide you with additional assistance in MATH 002 and MATH 101. If you need additional tutoring support in Math, the department also offers a drop-in help room.

Career options:

As a Math major you can pursue a traditional math-oriented field such as actuary science, education, or statistics. However, Math majors also go on to develop careers in investment analysis, programming, software engineering and web development, to name a few. For more information, visit the KU Career Center website.
