Overview: 

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in Spanish Language, literature, and culture, as well as Portuguese language and Brazilian literature and cultural studies minor.

Advanced undergraduate courses in grammar, composition, conversation, literature and culture are taught every semester on campus, and you can take your education abroad and study in Argentina, Spain or Brazil.

The department also offers a minor in Spanish and Brazilian Studies.

Career options: 

As more and more business is being conducted in languages other than English, many employers are looking for graduates with degrees in a foreign language. According to a 2014 article in the Wall Street Journal, those who major in a foreign language earn the most in starting salary amongst graduates of liberal arts majors.
