Want to study in a laboratory? For the faculty and students in the Theatre department, the University Theatre is a laboratory for the teaching, artistic, and research missions of the department.

You are sure to find your passion in the Theatre department with an integrated approach to practice and research that includes stagecraft, performance, design, dramatic literature, dramaturgy, and theatre pedagogy, as well as the historical, literary, and cultural basis of theatre and performance. You will receive small-school individual attention while benefiting from big-school academic choices and a vast array of programs.

The undergraduate program is grounded in the philosophy that good theatre artists are thinking theatre artists.

Career options: 

In the Department of Theatre, you will develop practical and intellectual skills that serve the pursuit of a life-long career in the arts.Theatre is an art that demands intellectual curiosity, imagination, creative expression, productive collaboration, risk-taking, responsibility, empathy, and commitment.  It requires knowledge of literature and history, societies and culture.  It enhances interpersonal sensitivity.  Creating theatre develops mature, intelligent, responsible, and inspiring individuals with creative facility and emotional awareness.
